My name is Jake and in April I’m going to ride my bike from
Maine to California with my brother Josh in hopes of achieving something I’ve
never dreamt possible: A complete tour
from the coast of The Atlantic to the coast of the Pacific. This clearly will
be no walk in the park as I’m only 19 years old and nearly 300lbs as of today.
Now I know what you’re thinking- Three. Hundred.
Pounds. Is that even possible, let
alone safe? Well folks, I’m here to show
you day after day that it is possible and there’s absolutely nothing holding
you back but your own fears. We can all
use this blog as a tool to show everyone that a better, healthier lifestyle can
lead you to accomplishments and feats you never thought possible. All on a good ole’ bike.
Because of the brutal Winter weather in Upstate NY, each day
I will use my Gary Fisher Wahoo to train and take on new challenges all from
inside the house until things warm up a bit.
I’ll make sure to keep you guys up to date with specific meal-plans and
training routines as I get in the best shape possible for the grueling days to
come. As we go along I’ll give you some
context as to how I came to this decision and my best advice about leading an
overweight lifestyle as a brand new adult.
And then as we find our way to April, you’ll all get to watch the magic
unfold as my brother and I trek across the middle of the country in search of
something better and more beautiful for my own body, and for my eyes to see.
This will be one hell of a ride and I hope you’re all as
excited as I am to get on the road!
Until next time,
Jake
